संरोहति अग्निना दग्धं वनं परशुना हतं ।

वाचा दुरुक्तं बीभत्सं न संरोहति वाक् क्षतम् ॥

The Forest Department draws long-term  Working Plans for the regeneration of forests laid waste either by potu cultivation wild fires lit by the nomadic tribes, cut down by smugglers and those legally harvested in cycles. Even vast tracts of forest cover can be regained. But, dear friends, rude words, once spoken, cannot be taken back. The hurt caused by such crude behavior will never heal. 

குறள் 127: 

யாகாவா ராயினும் நாகாக்க காவாக்கால் 

சோகாப்பர் சொல்லிழுக்குப் பட்டு.

[ மு.வ உரை:

காக்க வேண்டியவற்றுள் எவற்றைக் காக்கா விட்டாலும் நாவையாவது காக்க வேண்டும்; காக்கத் தவறினால் சொற்குற்றத்தில் அகப்பட்டுத் துன்புறுவர்.]

Literally translated, this Subhashitham says:

A forest burnt down by fire, or cut down by axe will eventually grow back. But wounds caused by harsh, inappropriate words will never heal.
